The big question with appliance trends today is when stainless steel be out, or what is next. My answer and prediction is that I believe its here to stay. Support to this is taking a look at history. With appliances we've seen gold, avocado, white, black… ice white and even oil rubbed bronze. All of which dominated the room and often limited the choices for colors and other finishes in the room.
By popular vote, most people like clean, understated finishes that are easy to clean. As with stainless steel, trend longevity points to finishes that blend with their surrounds, rather than out like a trophy! While a large refrigerator will dominate the room no matter what the finish, stainless lends to be more versatile with other elements in the room. The main complaint about stainless steel appliances is the finger prints and fear of scratches. So manufacturers are continually introducting finishes that put an end to consumers fears and challenges.
This fall GE introduced a fashion-foward finish — Slate! It has a strong, earthy and timeless feel just like stainless. GE aimed to deliver a finish that allows consumers to change out appliances one at a time, conflicting less with the finishes of your other appliances. The dull finish resembles that of a flat screen tv and follows along with numerous other trends of matte finishes which tend to be less dominating in the room.
GE's modern and diverse new finish SLATE:
- Resist fingerprints
- Easily complements other appliances
- Attractive color looks unique and stylish
- Easy to clean and keep looking great
- Finished with bold, brushed metal touch points
